A few things you might like to know about Rock Wallaby at Acorn Records. Click our faces for a more personal insight.

After meeting (consoling) The Wallaby at a 'Mr Kipling Convention' (he was a bit worse for wear, too many French Fancies. I just happened to be passing) we got to talking about our mutual love of vinyl. He was looking at starting an online business selling Battenberg's to Idaho. I thought there might be a market for records. 

That was four or so years ago, and here we are now. Not only with an online presence, but lucky enough to build a shop and share the fun with Baldrecordman (Steve Fox ) and Chris & Anna from Acorn.

Chris has owned and run an Independent record shop in Yeovil for over 40yrs. After retiring from Acorn Music he decided to semi-retire (most people do it the other way around) and open a new store in Yeovil with us and the Baldrecordman.

There is very little Chris doesn't know about music, but especially the local music scene. He has been an ardent supporter of young (some slightly older....others really old) bands, and the diverse mix of music he has sold over the years has influenced many an ear.

Steve has run Baldmanrecords for many years. However, he has been a serious collector of vinyl for over 25yrs. His music knowledge is second to none. He has a nose for sniffing out rare vinyl, and although there are not many hairs on his head, those on the back of his neck stand up when there is quality vinyl in his vicinity.

Debby (Steve's very understanding wife who also used to work at Acorn) uses the red nose clip when they leave the house, otherwise, rather like a beagle, Steve will pick up on a vinyl scent and be off ! 

Anna brings an air of calm to the store. Back in the day she led a debauched and satanic life roadying for the likes of Thin Lizzy and Elton John.

She gave up her twilight existence to work with Chris at Acorn. Not only does she have a fantastic musical knowledge, but she can spell and no's about grammer and stuff. Very useful in a record shop when trying to spell Siycho-delia, Progresive, and Cake. 

The Wallaby provides the listening ears, sharp eyes and the mayhem. We playgrade all our online vinyl and he is able to pick up clicks, shhhhh's, pops, sticks and skips with ease.

He is also able to pick up French Fancies and Bakewell Tarts with ease. This often leads to him being thrown out of his much loved Mr Kipling Conventions. He is notorious for his love of battenberg and his inability to deal with the subsequent 'sugar-hi's'.
